Build-a-Feature with Us: Labels (beta sneak peek)

Hi Hudu Community,

We're back with another one! This one is a LITTLE different, as Labels has already made their beta-debut. But, we'd still love to gather more feedback as we continue development.

Labels can be applied across different record types โ€” helping you organize and filter information more easily. This one came from feedback about improving how to find and sort data across companies, and we're excited for you to try it out.

What You Can Do

Admins can create labels for the following record types in Hudu:

  • Articles

  • Assets

  • Websites

  • IP Addresses

  • VLANs

  • VLAN Zones

  • Passwords

  • Processes

  • Networks

  • Racks

Labels are created in the Admin area, and can be set up to be:

  • Used by all companies

  • Restricted to specific companies

  • Scoped to specific record types

They also have custom colors, so you can visually group and differentiate items however you'd like.

Why We Built This

Our goal for this feature is to make filtering and organization easier across your entire environment โ€” something that admins can still control but something a little more flexible than folders.

Whether it's tagging passwords, tracking record status, or grouping assets by purpose, labels should make it easier to find what you're looking for โ€” and see patterns across your data. Labels and label types are also accessible via API, so you can build them into your own workflows and integrations.

What's Next

We're planning to add:

  • Filtering search results by labels

  • Bulk management (so you can add or remove labels across multiple items at once)

We'd Love Your Feedback

If you're running beta already and have tested it out, we'd love to hear your thoughts โ€” and if you haven't tried it yet, we're just as curious what you think Labels could be useful for. Drop a comment below and let us know what's working, what's not, and what you'd like to see added next.
